Brandon Marshall blasts Josh McDaniels amid rough

Josh McDaniels’ first year in Las Vegas has not been pretty, and one former NFL star took note. Ex-Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall, who played under McDaniels during the 2009 campaign with the Broncos, harshly criticized his former coach Friday on the “Up & Adams” show with host Kay Adams with Las Vegas sitting at 2-6. Absolutely not,” Marshall told Adams. “Because he doesn’t know how to lead people. You can have all the X’s and O’s in the world, but when you go into a losing locker room, the first thing you have to be able to do is get to the players’ minds and their hearts. And he’s not capable of doing that.” McDaniels’ stint as Raiders head coach has started disastrously. Las Vegas has blown three leads of 17 points or more through their first eight games. McDaniels is now 13-23 as an NFL head coach, including two seasons with the the Broncos in from 2009-2010. Denver went 3-9 in his final season before McDaniels was firs Marshall and McDaniels clashed in Denver. The coach sat Marshall for the Broncos’ 2009 regular-season finale due to disciplinary reasons. Regardless of any real ill-will towards McDaniels, the wideout did not hold back, and pointed to former Giants Blake Martinez announcing his retirement just one month after joining the team as a sign of complacency. “You have guys retiring mid-season. That’s horrible leadership,” Marshall added. “You want guys to rally around him. You want guys to say, ‘This is his first year back. I want to play for him and his wife and his kids.’ They’re doing the opposite. They’re saying, ‘I’m shutting it down.’”
